Welcome to the Office for External Affairs! As your Vice President for External Affairs, I am committed to providing the highest level of service to the Student Body in all aspects concerning the off-campus environment. Whether it be fighting for the students’ voices in City Hall or working to make Tuscaloosa a safer, more student-oriented city, I am dedicated to making the Office for External Affairs one of the most energetic and active in the Student Government Association. If there is ever anything with which I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to stop by my office and speak with me. I am always willing to hear both your opinions and your ideas regarding External Affairs, and I guarantee that your voice will be both valued and respected no matter what the issue.

Job Description:

The Vice President for External Affairs is responsible for representing and promoting students of The University of Alabama to the community, city, and state as well as serving as the liaison for all relations concerning university, local, and state governments.

Goals:

As your Vice President for External Affairs, I intend on implementing the H.O.M.E.town Tuscaloosa Initiative, which involves instilling a sense of History, Oneness, Membership, and Exchange in the minds and hearts of all students of The University of Alabama as well as building on the success of my predecessors with all ongoing programs and policies.

  • History

    I pledge to work with the University to try and add historical opportunities as a component of Freshman Compass classes as well as with local historical organizations to ensure availability for students at these venues.
  • Oneness

    I pledge to work to achieve a new horizon with the SGA’s role in philanthropy and to work to create a functional, SGA run database of philanthropic opportunities in the Tuscaloosa area.
  • Membership

    I pledge to organize the first ever Tuscaloosa Get On Board Day, separate from the student organization Get On Board Day, that will effectively showcase the myriad opportunities available to students in the city of Tuscaloosa.
  • Exchange

    I pledge to work to enhance our role in the current College Summit as well as implementing rigorous policies associated with city and state government so that no student’s voice goes unheard. Whether I am on the steps of City Hall or the steps of the State Capitol Building, I will work tirelessly to present students’ opinions and concerns as effectively and clearly as possible.

Job Description
The Vice President of Financial Affairs shall propose and execute policies of the SGA in all areas of financial management. He is responsible for establishing and serving as the chairperson of the Financial Affairs Committee (FAC). The Vice President of Financial Affairs is also responsible for selecting and training the SGA Treasurer. The Vice President oversees all financial transactions of the SGA and collects and disburses funds of the SGA using accepted accounting principles and to keep a permanent record of all transactions available to any student of The University of Alabama. The Vice President of Financial Affairs should also be concerned with individual student's financial needs.
